Since 9/11, there have been hundreds of thousands of injured service members discharged from military service under less-than-honorable conditions.

Today

In addition, hundreds of injured active-duty military personnel at any given time are facing improper separations from service.

Results

Barring effective advocacy and intercession, these men and women will return to their communities, imposing a fiscal burden on State and Local governmental entities and private sector interests.

Fallout

Divorce and family alienation rates, the prevalence of addictive disorders, homelessness, unemployment, incarceration, and suicide exceed those of the general population.

Nightmare

The cascading impacts manifest in access to healthcare, housing, employment, and education, all representing a public relations nightmare for the VA and DoD.

Congress

USJAG has worked with Congress to pass legislation to prevent such fraudulent discharges; however, the DoD continues to find ways to circumvent the laws enacted by Congress.
